Just discovered these images, by illustrator Nicholas Di Genova... 
It is not entirely clear what they are or what they are for, but the "hybrid" forms shown in them, and the style of drawing totally enthralled me. Nicholas Di Genova's website (http://mediumphobic.com/) is equally intriguing and definatly worth poking a nose around.
